The Easter season is coming and with it a time of welcoming spring, family gatherings and above all great food. At Červený Jelen restaurant in Prague we know this well and every year we prepare an Easter menu that represents the best of traditional Easter food in the Czech Republic, but in a modern way.
This year is no exception, so we are happy to invite you to taste what our chef Marek Fichtner and his team have prepared for you.
From 28 March to 3 April 2024, we're serving a festive Easter menu that celebrates spring's seasonal ingredients. This Easter menu will be available as part of our a la carte menu from 15:00. Don't forget to make a reservation, either online or by calling 735 123 647.
Festive Easter menu in Červený jelen
The Easter menu includes three dishes with Easter meats and a sweet dessert:
Veal tenderloin in herb crust, spring rolls with maple syrup and Madeira sauce, all complemented by mashed potatoes with bear garlic.
Lamb shank with red wine sauce.
Rabbit loin in Iberian speck with Perigord truffle sauce.
Apple tart with carrot sponge and Granny Smith apples.
An interesting feature around Easter and spring celebrations is the often mentioned carrot, which, although just starting to grow from seed, is available in spring thanks to the autumn harvest. This root vegetable is associated with rabbits, who consider it a favourite delicacy. It refers to ancient pagan traditions. According to legend, the fertility goddess Ostara turned a frozen bird into a hare, symbolising spring revival and new life.
